It is an exciting time to be a part of Moraga Valley Presbyterian Church (MVPC)! With a Senior Pastor who started in January 2023 and the hopes of adding a Worship Minister to their team, there is life and vision running through the congregation, attracting new members.
Being located in the California Bay Area, 30 minutes outside of Oakland, MVPC is a beautiful reflection of diversity, representing many cultures from around the world. Along with wonderful weather, Moraga has a small-town family feel. Its landscape is gorgeous, consisting of hills with pine trees and dotted with palm trees. Sometimes you get a waft of the ocean! The town is a great place to raise a family with incredible schools. You will also find a desirable food and wine scene; a strong art, music, and theology culture; and a perfect location for travel and sightseeing.
Job Description:
MVPC desires to have a Worship Minister who has a pastoral and shepherding nature and approach to leading worship, helping shape a Spirit-led culture with thoughtfulness. They want the songs they sing to be theologically rich and congregationally singable, valuing timeless hymns and new intentional songs. They are looking for someone who not only prepares for and leads rehearsals and services, but who will disciple the worship team and create a culture of empowerment, developing skills and spiritual growth.
The Worship Minister would be a part of the pastoral team and have creative and strategic leadership over the worship ministry. According to their job description, “Success in this position will include building a team of leaders who faithfully serve the church, creating opportunities for intimacy and encounter with Jesus in worship services, and dedication to honing both the ‘art’ and ‘heart’ of worship leadership.”
