About Us

There are many people teaching worship leaders these days, but few are willing to journey with you to become who God has gifted and designed you to be. For over sixteen years, we have been nurturing and equipping worship leaders who lead songs to become worship pastors who shepherd people.

Our alumni lead from a place of depth, skill, and compassion — formed in Christ, rooted in relationship, and equipped for ministry in the local church. They skillfully tend to God’s people and bear witness to His works through faithful worship in their congregations.
Developing leaders is good, but discipling them is critical. In 1 Corinthians 4:15, Paul said, “Even if you had 10,000 teachers, you do not have many fathers…” There is no shortage of teachers transferring information or leaders performing onstage. But often what’s most needed is least offered: disciple-making fathers and mothers who nurture and create spaces where transformation can take place.

why it matters

Perhaps you’re wondering if the Worship Leader versus Worship Pastor language is just semantics.

If you’re on a church platform putting words into the mouths of the congregation through the songs they sing, and shaping their faith through the prayers or exhortations you speak, you are shaping what they think about God, themselves, and the world around them. That is a deeply pastoral task. This is true whether or not you’ve received seminary or pastoral training, and whether or not your official title ever includes the word ‘pastor.’

Unfortunately, most Worship Pastors have not been equipped the way other pastors have, so they find themselves doing ministry using the ways, rhythms, and metrics of the world. This can lead to unnecessary exhaustion, discouragement, competitiveness, and burn out. In the worst cases, it leads down a path of performance and unhealth that can affect entire communities. Worship Pastors are particularly susceptible to this because many of them find their way into the role due to their musical competency and love for Jesus, not their spiritual maturity, biblical knowledge, or discipleship skills.

But there is another way.

What if the mantle of your ministry felt life-giving and generative to you and to those around you? For that to be possible over the long haul, it requires a high level of intentionality as you learn to be a true disciple of the way of Jesus – learning to slow down, pay attention, and bear witness to His goodness and allowing your ministry flow from that. It sounds simple, but it isn’t easy.

The leaders who have chosen this type of formation journey (that has to be walked out in community with consistent coaching) carry authenticity and maturity, and it’s the balance of both that matters. Their thoughtfulness and intentionality point people to the triune God instead of themselves, and it creates more space for the Spirit to do the work of transformation for those entrusted to their care.

As Worship Pastors, it all starts with the journey of learning to follow Jesus well ourselves – to daily walking with Him, not just singing about Him.

As we draw nearer to the Father’s heart on this journey, we are meant to discover our ultimate calling: to become like Him, sacrificially giving all for those entrusted to our care. Our purpose is to equip those who follow us to surpass our own achievements. This is the call to become the spiritual father and mother Paul talks about in 1 Corinthians 4:15. It’s the way the Kingdom was always meant to move forward – faithfully, humbly, and generously.

All of our coaches have experienced the same life change through 10,000 Fathers & Mothers Worship School that we hope to see nurtured in our students. They are each remarkable worship pastors in their own contexts, as well as experienced coaches who know how to walk with leaders through the regular rigors of ministry leadership. These are faithful men and women who we have seen lovingly come alongside others to greatly fruitful effect. The vast majority of our coaches also hold post-graduate degrees – either Master of Arts in Worship, Masters of Divinity, or Spiritual Direction certificates.
